Work plays a major role in the state of an individual’s mental health and well-being, as it is a continuous factor in our day-to-day lives. This is especially relevant and important today as rates of suicide are increasing. Workplaces have the opportunity to play a fundamental role in changing the perception and understanding of mental health and eradicating the stigma of asking for help. This conversation may not be comfortable however most things that are challenging and help us improve as people aren’t easy. This session will provide education around the extent of suicide, particularly in the facilities management and building trades industries, why the rates are so high and steps we can all take to begin to address this important issue to make a difference.
