As employers strive for a more diverse workforce, many overlook the unique needs their new team may have for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). In order to present a truly Inclusive environment, we need to get beyond the old “one-size-fits-most” PPE mindset. Learn how to identify PPE needs your team member may not be willing to openly talk about, create an environment where employees actively participate in a “feedback loop” on the comfort and effectiveness of protective equipment, proactively anticipate some challenges that might be encountered by new employees who have different life experiences, discover new solutions that have entered the marketplace from visionary vendors, and implement an ongoing robust PPE evaluation system to ensure you are maintaining effective control measures over time. All employees should feel valued and valuable in the workplace. By ensuring their protective equipment is appropriate to their individual needs, the safety professional can play a crucial role in elevating your company’s Inclusion initiatives in a personal and meaningful way.
